Smile, just Smile

Our Emily really is changing so much, it's great to watch. She is now making lots of different noises and coos, we are starting to tell the difference between cries. But the best thing is...

...when she smiles. It really is wonderful how it can change everything. When you sile at her and she kick her legs in excitement and gives you a grin, wow...

I'm reading Proverbs at the moment for the course I'm doing at church. The other day I read ch15, one of the verse there struck me. 'Happiness makes a person smile' or 'A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face'(verse 13). It really does... Try smiling at someone, see what it does.

A big thank you

Emily is now three weeks old and still as beautiful as ever. She is doing fantastically well. When the health visitor came last week she was very pleased. Emily is gain weight well and developing a nice double chin. She is mostly happy and at the moment is staring at some of our still-not-unpacked boxes.

John and I are enjoying watching her grow. She is now over 10lb and is developing very strong arms and neck. In the passed few days she has started to smile at us too. Not a windy smile, but a nice happy wide mouth and bright eyes.

John has now gone back to work after having three weeks at home with us. (He worked half days for the last 2 weeks.) So far it's not too bad without him, although I do miss having him around, I'm too soppy! We have had a number of visitor, all of which loved Emily and said how beautiful she is...

Emily and I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has given her gifts. They are all great and much appreciated.

It's a girl!

Little baby Emily

After spending most of the night insisting that it was never going to happen and she wanted it all to stop, Sally gave birth to our beautiful daughter at 3:30am on the morning of Thursday, 10th Novemeber. We have called her Emily May, and she weighed 8lbs 3ozs when she was born. I think I can safely say that she is the most amazing, beautiful baby I have ever seen.

There are quite a few pictures of her on our gallery now. It's a good job I got the gallery working before she was born, really.

Inside a little world

I am now 20 weeks pregnant and last week we went to the hospital for our scan. This scan is to check for any abnormalities, but is also a great opportunity to see the baby.

You will be pleased to hear that all is well with the little one. Head size, waist size and leg length are normal. All the organs are there and in the right places. There was a little trouble seeing all of the heart as baby kept putting it's hand in the way and casting a shadow on the heart! But in the end, after pushing hard on my tummy, there was a clear view and all was well.

These are two of the scan pictures.

You can clearly see a little arm in the one at the top. If you look closely you can even see fingers! Very cute!

The one at the bottom is a cross-section of the babies head. So it looks round and a little skull like!

It was such an amazing experience. So beautiful to see the baby moving around. Hurray!

We have more photos, but I will put them up slowly, spread out the joy!

Stamp your feet

It's been a long time since I added any baby things. Not much had been happening, until...

Yesterday morning I was lying in bed and I felt a little something in my tummy. No not John's cooking, but our little baby saying hello! I know that in a few months I'll be bored of it, but at the moment it's great!
For those of you how haven't been pregnant it felt a bit like a pulse beat. You know, like when you've cut off your blood circulation to your leg and when it comes back you can feel the beats of your own pulse.

On friday we are off for our scan, so I think there will be more news then. But bye for now.

Heartbeat

Well this is my first blog then. And a very excited one it is too! For those of you who don't know John and I are expecting our first baby. I am now just over 12 weeks pregnant, so am feeling less sick! (Which is a good thing!)

Anyway, we went to see our midwife today and we were able to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. Very exciting. It's so amazing to think about all that is happening inside me. Already most of the baby is formed, it just has to grow. Hurray! If you want to look at some interesting baby development pictures have a look at wprc.org.
